OTTAWA – The electorial action was for Franklin County school boards, and it wasn’t good for most incumbents. In the elections for the Wellsville USD 289 school board, three incumbents were unseated in all three contested elections. In Position 1, Kevin Jones beat Fred Schnoke. For Position 2, Beth Watson unseated Carrie Meyer. For Position 7, the winner is Dawn Hrabe Whalen, who defeated Vickie Bohi. Susan Rader had no opposition. In West Franklin USD 287, for Position 1, the winner is Curtis Altic, and for Position 7, incumbent Lisa Reece was the winner. Janie Dillon and Timothy Matthias were unopposed. In Central Heights USD 288, Kathy Sheldon barely upset incumbent Gene Schaefer. Keith Brock handily defeated incumbent Cindi Dryden and Judy Hamblin. Rick Pryor and Kevin Tooley had no opponents. Franklin County Clerk Shari Perry said the voter turnout was about 14 percent, which she said isn’t good.
