LAWRENCE — A Kansas University official who’s written about Elizabeth ‘Grandma’ Layton, the Wellsville artist, is one of six women who were inducted into the KU Women’s Hall of Fame. Two students from Baldwin City were also honored for outstanding achievements. Lynn Bretz is KU communications director and she has written art essays including one entitled “Through the Looking Glass: Elizabeth ‘Grandma’ Layton.” Also inducted – FDIC chair Sheila Bair, who was featured on KOFO’s Community Perspectives last year; Spirit Aerosystems vice president Gloria Farha Flentje, KU international researcher Hannah Britton, KU Emily Taylor Women’s Resource Center’s Katherine Rose-Mockry and KU cancer researcher Patricia Thomas. Also honored, students Emily Miller and Lynnette Ojanguren, both of Baldwin City.
