KANSAS CITY, Mo– The Missouri Senate passed a bill yesterday that would change how allegations of sexual abuse in schools are dealt with. Under the new bill, school districts would have to inform other districts if a teacher was fired or forced to resign for sexually abusing a student. It also requires schools to report allegations of child abuse to the state within 24 hours. The reports would then be investigated by the state. The bill would also ban sex offenders to run for school board positions.
