GARNETT — The Garnett Area Chamber of Commerce has issued a warning about a man approaching Anderson County businesses and asking for money for the Prairie Paws Animal Shelter in Ottawa. The man no longer volunteers at the animal shelter and isn’t authorized to raise money for Prairie Paws, said the chamber’s Cecelia Lamb. She described the man as about 5-10, 300 pounds; and wearing a dirty blue baseball cap and a red and black flannel shirt. She said that although the animal shelter is conducted a fundraiser, you shouldn’t give him any money and if you have written a check to him, you should immediately stop payment.
