CENTROPOLIS — It wasn’t on the menu for Saturday’s breakfast at the Centropolis Christian Church – the sewer backed up into the church basement. County planning director Larry Walrod said because the basement is lower than Centropolis’s lagoon system, there’s a set of pumps that push sewage from the church into the sewage system. One of the pumps broke down because an old mophead got jammed into it, Walrod said. He said he had no idea how the mophead got jammed into the pump Because Centropolis isn’t incorporated, the county operates the sewer system. Walrod said short-term repairs have been made and he says he’s looking at some fixes. Although Centropolis residents pay for the system, there’s not enough money to make improvements or major repairs to the system, he said.
