CARBONDALE — Two people received injuries in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 75 south of Carbondale Tuesday afternoon. The Kansas Highway Patrol said 59-year-old Gary Cox, 59, Lyndon, was driving north on U.S. 75 when traffic slowed and stopped because of heavy smoke crossing the highway. A truck driven by David Kidwell, 57, Scranton, plowed into the back of Cox’s Jeep, troopers said. Kidwell was taken to Stormont-Vail hospital in Topeka. A passenger in Cox’s car, Nola Cox, 77, Lyndon; was also taken to a hospital. The younger Cox and another passenger in his car weren’t injured.
