GARNETT — Weather permitting, U.S. 59 will be closed in southern Garnett beginning Thursday. Crews with the Kansas Department of Transportation will replace pavement underneath the old railroad bridge on U.S. 59 south of Garnett and just north of the roundabout. KDOT said a mile-and-a-half of U.S. 59 will be closed from the roundabout north to the intersection with Business U.S. 169 in Garnett. Traffic will be detoured via Business 169. The detour has a lane width restriction of 12 feet. The road will be closed about a month.
