It’s still too early for such warm-season vegetables, he said. Planting too early could actually delay vegetable production, he said. But if you really, really can’t resist, he said there are some things you can do to help your odds of good harvests. Think the classic movie “The Graduate” – plastic. Use plastic covering to warm the ground for about a week and use plastic mulch to start the plants, he said. Tomatoes should be planted three feet apart. On the other hand, corn can be planted five to six inches apart.
