OTTAWA — Shannon Fanning will be the new principal at Eugene Field. At Monday night’s meeting, the Ottawa school board named her to succeed Josh Robinson, who’s going to be the Lincoln principal. She is a teacher at Lincoln but had served as an assistant administrator at the school before budget cuts forced that job to be eliminated, said Ottawa Supt. Dean Katt. School district social worker Anita Poe-Wiley was also a candidate for the Eugene Field position and has sharp questions for the board . She also protested the board’s plan to end her position. The board issued a notice that they intend to end her employment as well as two other teachers next month as part of the district’s budget cuts.
