POMONA — A bolt of lightning started a towering inferno near Pomona Monday morning. The lightning started a fire that destroyed a small structure and the electronic equipment inside at the foot of a communications tower in the 3200 block of Colorado Road. The Franklin County Sheriff’s office said the tower’s owner, Zito Media, will send technicians from Nebraska to estimate the loss and make repairs.
