OSAWATOMIE — A lightning strike caused a fire at a house and damaged another house on Main Street in Osawatomie Monday morning. Osawatomie firefighters dealt with a fire in the attic of a house at 701 Main St. Firefighters from Fontana and Paola also helped. The Osawatomie Journal reported that the lightning also hit a house owned by Charles Culbertson two doors down. He told the Journal he was at home when he heard a loud noise and saw sparks flying out of the furnace. The lightning also hit a tree which dropped a large branch fell across the roof and front porch of culbertson’s home, putting two holes in the roof. No one was injured.
