OTTAWA — The city will try, try again. Commissioners Monday scheduled another public hearing on May 18 with the idea of giving a 100-percent, 10-year property tax break for the new Hasty Awards plant in the Davis Road Industrial Park. The company built a news $1.9 million plant with 60 employees but so far, the state has rejected previous efforts by the city to grant the exemption for a variety of reasons, said city manager Richard Nienstedt. The new hearing is the next step in awarding the tax exemption, which he said should be approved this time.
