OVERLAND PARK — An Overland Park woman has been sentenced to five years in federal prison on charges she tried to cover up her husband’s sexual abuse of her daughter. U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said 45-year-old Barbara Porter pleaded guilty to one count of obstruction of justice. Earlier, her husband Patrick pleaded guilty to one count of producing child pornography involving her teenaged daughter, who is his stepdaughter. After investigators raided their home, the daughter was placed in protective custody with her grandmother. Barbara Porter helped Patrick Porter take the girl from protective custody and flee Kansas. Authorities issued an Amber Alert. Patrick Porter and his stepdaughter later were found in California. He has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison.
