GARNETT — It’s been 39 years since the first Garnett Square Fair started in downtown Garnett. It’s a Mother’s Day tradition that combines crafts, food, live music and farmer’s market, and its Saturday. Organizers have received several phone calls from vendors early and the courthouse lawn should be packed with booths, said Celia Lamb, one of the organizers. The city of Garnett is planning a special booth in honor of the 150th anniversary celebration, she said. The Pieces and Patches Quilt Guild will have a special “Celebrate Kansas” quilt show on the north side of the square, she said. The day begins with the traditional Garnett Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary biscuit and gravy breakfast. There will be tours of the Walker Art Gallery, Harris House, Anderson County Historical Museum and the Santa Fe Depot.
