GARNETT–The gas lines in Garnett should be getting shorter, now that a closed gas station has reopened. The former Shell Oil station at the corner of 5th and Maple Streets has reopened as “59 Express.” Tim Barrett of Baldwin is the new owner, and he says the store will keep the Shell corporate identity and offer the company’s range of fuels. The store will also offer pizza and fresh sandwiches and other convenience items. When the old Shell station closed last September, the two remaining gas stations were swamped with vehicles at certain times.
