OTTAWA–An Ottawa man convicted of the stabbing death last summer of Paul Nicholson has been sentenced to 22 years, 8 months in state prison. 44 year old John Balbirnie last month was convicted of Second Degree Murder for the fatal stabbing of Nicholson after a series of fights at 217 South Locust. Balbirnie’s Attorney Frederick Meier says there are grounds for appeal.
Meier also said the judge did what he had to do.
