OTTAWA — Ottawa city commissioners have declared May 15-21 as National Police Week and Sunday as Peace Officers Memorial Day. Ottawa police chief dennis butler says there will be a memorial service 6 p.m. May 26 at the First Assembly of God Church for two local officers who died in the line of duty – Capt. Robert Cowdin of the Ottawa Police Department and Franklin County deputy Samuel Smith.
