OTTAWA — The Sears Hometown Store in Ottawa was closed Monday and today, prompting rumors that it had closed. A hand-lettered sign on the front door announced that the store was closed for inventory. No one answered the phone. A national Sears spokeswoman, Kim Freely, said the company can’t discuss the rumors but hasn’t heard of any closing. The Sears data base shows the store as a fully-operating and store at this time, she said. The Ottawa Sears store is locally owned and operated. The local owner couldn’t be reached for comment.
