BALDWIN–The Baldwin Board of Education doesn’t like the idea of young children trying to cross 56 Highway…and with that thought in mind, they have rejected a proposal to end school bus service to kids who live inside the city limits of Baldwin. Earlier, a Transportation Committee had proposed the idea, saying it would save about $30,000. But Board President Alison Bauer says while children walking to school is good for their health, the idea of children crossing the highway is crazy, and the ending the bus service inside city limits would force such a dreadful option. Superintendent Paul Dorathy says his biggest fear is a child getting hit by a car, and the District cannot take such a risk.
