GARNETT — Garnett city officials will turn over a waterline project to a bonding company. The Anderson County Review reported the contractor laying a 12-inch water line between the Cedar Creek Reservoir to the city’s treatment plant but stopped work Feb. 26 after running into problems boring under the railroad. City officials met Wednesday with representatives of the bonding company, Employer’s Mutual Insurance Company. EMC bonded Houk Contractors, the original contractor. City manager Joyce Martin said EMC is now the project manager and is responsible for finding contractors to finish the project. She said when Houk ran into trouble, EMC began preparing to take over.
