KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Farm Aid announced it will bring one of its annual benefit concerts to Kansas City, at the Livestrong Sporting Park in Wyandotte County on Aug. 13. It will the first time that the organization will stage the event in Kansas. Performers will include Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews. Farm Aid said the concerts help its mission to keep family farmers on the land to guarantee an agricultural system that ensures farmers a fair living, strengthens communities, protects natural resources and delivers good food. Despite the recent increase in commodity prices, the group said family farmers still face an uphill struggle. In recent years, Farm Aid has received record numbers of phone calls to its hotline from farmers in need due to volatile farm prices, tight credit markets, escalating costs and disasters. Tickets go on sale May 20.
