CARBONDALE — A traffic stop in Carbondale Wednesday afternoon has lead to may be a bust of a multi-county theft ring. Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn said Osage County deputies, with help from Shawnee and Jackson counties, spent more than 24 hours searching a house in rural Osage County for stolen property. She said a deputy stopped a vehicle in Carbondale and arrested two occupants. Dunn said Kayla Schnegelsiepen, 22, Topeka, was jailed for transporting an open container, suspicion of possession of methampthetamine, suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and suspicion of possession of stolen property. Jayme Broxterman, 23, Topeka, was jailed for having no proof of insurance, transporting an open container, and suspicion of possession of of stolen property. Following their arrests, the sheriff’s department got a search warrant to search the house. Dunn said during the search, three more people were taken into custody. James Hulsoppl, 31, was jailed on suspicion of possession of methampthetamine, suspicion of possession of marijuana, suspicion of cultivation of marijuana, suspicion of making meth, and suspicion of possession of stolen property. Derrick Baker, 35, Topeka, was booked on suspicion of possession of stolen property, suspicion of possession of methampthetamine and drug paraphernalia. Michelle Prettyman, 31, Topeka, was jailed booked on suspicion of possession of stolen property, suspicion of possession of methampthetamine and drug paraphernalia.
