OTTAWA — At tonight’s meeting, Ottawa city commissioners are expected to OK an application for a special state transportation grant to build a network of sidewalks around the high school and middle school. City planning director Wynndee Lee said the city has pursued the Safe Routes to School grants for a couple of years as a way to ease safety concerns a lack of sidewalks in the area. The city plans to build additional sidewalks using another grant. The city would have to come up with $62,000 to match the quarter-million-dollar grant. Normally the city commission meets during the morning for the last regular meeting of the month, but commissioners moved it to 7 p.m. because of the county summit today.
