COFFEYVILLE — Two tax seminars will be Wednesday, May 25, at Coffeyville Community College. A sales and withholding tax seminar will be from 1 to 4 and highlight Kansas withholding tax and sales tax. Participants will gain a basic understanding of business tax responsibilities, record-keeping and filing requirements, and form preparation. A contractors’ tax workshop will be 6 to 8:30. This workshop is will deal with sales tax issues for contractors, subcontractors, and repair technicians. That includes sales tax on materials and labor, project exemption certificates, sales tax returns, billing and related issues. Both seminars will be presented by the Kansas Department of Revenue. Cost for each seminar is $25 per person, or a reduced fee of $40 is offered for two people attending together. Advance registration is required. The deadline to register has been extended to Moday. After that, seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
