GARNETT — Motorists on U.S. 59 between Garnett and Ottawa can expect some delays until July. The Kansas Department of Transportation has started a $2.3 million repaving project that will affect Garnett, Richmond and Princeton. U.S. 59 is closed just north of the roundabout south of Garnett. Work has also started on U.S. 59 in Richmond and the highway is presently at two lanes. At some times, a daytime pilot car operation will guide traffic when work reduces the highway to one lane. KDOT said that on those days, delays of 15 minutes or less can be expected.
