OKLAHOMA CITY – Tuesday night was a deadly night in three states as tornadoes blew through Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. The east central Kansas area dodged most of the worst of the weather. In Oklahoma City, five died when tornadoes hit during rush hour and 60 more were hurt. Oklahoma Gov. Governor Mary Fallin told ABC News that she expected the death toll to increase. The Kansas Adjutant General’s office said two people were killed near St. John when a tornado launched a tree into their van as they were driving on U.S. 281 between St. John and Great Bend. U.S. 281 was closed this morning because of the trees and other damage. Great Bend and Barton County received extensive storm damage. Two more were killed in Arkansas. The people of Joplin managed to avoid the storms and they’ll be back at work today trying to find victims of Sunday’s twister, and beginning to restart their own lives.
