OSAWATOMIE — Osawatomie city manager Bret Glendening has submitted his resignation. His final day will be July 5. Mayor Phil Dudley said Glendening became city manager nearly five years ago when the city faced serious financial problems. Since then, he’s done a good job, Dudley said. During his tenure, Glendening got the city’s financial house in order and built up reserves, Dudley said The city has also made several infrastructure improvements to streets and sewers, as well as the Osawatomie Public Library expansion. Glendening has accepted a non-governmental position with an organization in the Kansas City metro area. Dudley said the city will immediately contact the League of Kansas Municipalities to find an interim manager and then begin a search for a new city manager.
