OTTAWA — Officers from Ottawa, Osawatomie and Louisburg police departments, Franklin and Miami County deputies and state troopers took off in pursuit of money for Kansas Special Olympics. The officers carried the Special Olympics Torch from Ottawa to Beto Junction Wednesday. This is the 30th year for the Law Enforcement Torch Run, said Ottawa Police Lt. Adam Weingartner. The run was started by Wichita police officers to raise money for Special Olympics athletes’ expenses and it’s become a world-wide phenomena, he said.
