OTTAWA- Wyldewood Cellars of Peck, Kansas have had its elderberry juice products seized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The company’s products make unapproved claims of preventing, treating, and curing various diseases. Though the company was warned by the FDA, it never removed the claimed benefits from its website and products. The FDA’s Associate Commissioner for Regulary Affairs Dara A. Corrigan said that “products with unapproved disease claims are dangerous because they may cause consumers to delay or avoid legitimate treatments.” U.S. Kansas District Attorney Barry Grissom says that Wyldewood Cellars has been under notice since 2006.
