TOPEKA – As harvest season approaches, the Kansas Highway Patrol asks that drivers in rural areas take extra caution while on the road. An easy way to prevent potential accidents is for drivers to practice patience as the volume of farm equipment increases on the highways. In 2010, 102 crashes involved farm equipment. The KHP suggests that drivers pass with extreme caution, don’t assume farmers can see you, allow extra room on the road, and most of all, pay attention.
