BUCYRUS — A man was injured when his car was hit by a train early Sunday morning in Bucyrus. The Miami County Sheriff’s Department said the crash occurred near 223rd and Fourth streets. The sheriff’s office said the car was facing south on the tracks when a northbound Union Pacific train couldn’t stop and hit the front of the car. The driver tried to escape but was trapped in the wreckage outside the car, the sheriff’s office said. The man, who wasn’t identified, was critically injured and was taken to Overland Park Regional Hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
