BURLINGTON — A 22-year-old LeRoy woman will be in Coffey County District Court June 30 to face a charge that she murdered her newborn infant two months ago. The Anderson County Review reported that District Judge Eric Godderz ruled there is enough evidence to try Karen Bailey for first-degree felony murder and aggravated endangerment of a child. Godderz said there is evidence that Bailey’s baby died as a result of ineffective post-natal care. At a preliminary hearing, the baby’s paternal grandfather, Jack Geisler testified that Bailey told him that she gave birth to the baby boy and he died later. He testified that she gave the baby’s body to him in rural Anderson County, and it was turned over to Anderson County authorities. She is in Coffey County jail on a $500,000 bond.
