OTTAWA — The Ottawa school district has received a $365,000 state grant that will allow the middle school to restart its after-school program. Because of cuts in state school funding, the Ottawa school board decided last year to end the after-school program at the middle school. Supt. Dean Katt said the 21st century grant will help fund an even better program next year. The state board of education which awarded the grant apparently liked the district’s application, he said. Once the after-school program is relaunched, the Ottawa schools will be among the few that have after-school programs from kindergarten through high school, he said.
