GARNETT- Garnett is working towards making the city much more accessible to handicapped people. One of the remaining obstacles should be completed by the end of summer. The project to replace sidewalks along part of First Avenue, Oak Street and Park Road is scheduled to begin soon. City Manager Joyce Martin said the city notified 36 residents whose properties will be affected by the construction. The sidewalks will be repaired at the owners’ expense. The city of Garnett has six years to become handicapped accessible according to a federal mandate.
