WELLSVILLE — Wellsville school superintendent Denise O’Dea is leaving to become the new superintendent of Wamego schools. Wellsville school board president Susan Rader said the board has started the process of finding an interim successor. The board has interviewed a list of candidates offered through the Kansas Association of School Boards. All candidates are experienced superintendents and will serve a year, Rader said. O’Dea has served as Wellsville for more than 12 years. Rader said she’s sorry to see O’Dea go but it represents a good career move for her. Wamego, which is east of Manhattan, has about double the number of students as Wellsville and nearly three times the budget.
