GARNETT – A science teacher from Garnett has been named a 2011 finalist for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Jeanna Scheve of Anderson County High School is one of three science teachers from the state of Kansas to become a finalist out of seven nominees. As a finalist, Scheve has a chance to win the national finalist title, which would reward her with a $10,000 cash prize. News of her standing won’t be known until next spring.
