GARNETT — A Garnett company is among five finalists for one of the state’s top small business awards. Auburn Pharmacy was recently selected as a regional finalist for the Governor’s Award of Excellence, the top award given to a business by the state of Kansas during Kansas Business Pppreciation Month in June. The award will be presented at the Kansas Cavalry Encampment Wednesday in El Dorado. Mike Burns, Garnett, owns Auburn Pharmacy and was nominated for the award by the city of Garnett. Auburn has 11 retail locations in Kansas, with a 12th to be opened in Eudora, three locations in Missouri and one long-term care pharmacy in Paola. Other Anderson County firms that received state merit awards this year are Anderson County Hospital-St. Lukes Healthcare System, Anderson County Abstract, and Hayes-Brand Molding.
