KANSAS CITY — A Shawnee man who pleaded guilty to putting poison in salsa served at an Olathe restaurant has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison. U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said Arnoldo Bazan, 32, was angry at the owner of the Mi Ranchito Restaurant in Olathe because he had lost his job. He talked his wife, Yini de la Torre, who was a waitress at a Mi Ranchito Restaurant in Lenexa into putting a pesticide into the salsa as revenge. Nearly 50 diners at the restaurant reported being poisoned in August 2009 and some were hospitalized. She was sentenced to nearly seven years in prison earlier.
