OVERLAND PARK — Three people from Wellsville escaped without injury with a scare after the airplane they were in made an emergency landing in a field in Johnson County Friday afternoon. The Kansas Highway Patrol said the pilot, Justin Johnson, 35, took off from Johnson County Executive Airport in a 1972 Beechcraft Bonanza. When he reached about 500 to 600 feet, the plane’s engine cut out, troopers said. Johnson couldn’t restart the engine and he made an emergency landing in a field. His passengers were identified as Eric Lee, 49, and Joanne Wong-Lee, 41.
