OTTAWA — East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corporation has received a $5,000 grant to improve the outdoor play space at the West Franklin Head Start in Pomona. The Head Start center can buy play packages from one of 27 vendors. ECKAN’s Clara Cox said the grant came from the national Head Start Body Start program and was one of 436 awarded across the country. In addition to the play space improvement, each award-winning Head Start center will have access to on-line courses, webinars and resource materials.
