OTTAWA-Fireworks may be fun, but the fun can come with a high price. With the 4th of July just days away, the National Fire Protection Association Advises against consumers lighting off their own fire show, stating that in 2009 fires caused by fireworks resulted in roughly 38 million dollars in property damage. Ottawa’s Police Department’s Lieutenant Weingartner said that fireworks are illegal in Ottawa and this will be enforced. The Police Department encourages people to see the public show on Monday evening. The show will kick off around 9:30 in the river levee just south of Forest Park.
