OTTAWA-The 4th of July may be a day of fun and games, but the police department will not be messing around with anyone who chooses to illegally set off fireworks within Ottawa city limits. Ottawa’s Lieutenant Weingartner said people can expect consequences for being caught with fireworks. “If you possess or discharge fireworks in the city the potential is there to be issued a citation to appear in the municipal court, ” Weingartner said. Weingartner encourages people to enjoy the public show at Forest Park instead of putting on their own displays. The Forest Park presentation will get underway around 9:30.
