TOPEKA — Triple A said about 39 million Americans will travel more than 50 miles today for the Independence Day holiday. Triple A’s Jim Haney told the Kansas Information Network it’s a decrease from last year. Higher fuel prices have encouraged Americans to stay closer to home, he said. And because of the fuel prices, it’s more feasible for many to fly rather than drive, he said.
