A 13-year-old girl riding a bicycle was struck by a pickup truck outside of Lawrence around 7:30 this morning. The accident happened near the intersection of East 1500 and North 1100 roads.
A highway patrol spokesperson said the accident happened because the bicycle failed to stop at a stop sign.
A helicopter took the girl to an area hospital, where she is being treated. The name of the girl and her condition have not been released by authorities at this time.
