GARNETT — Investigators have completed their work at the damaged Astro Manufacturing plant in Garnett. The plant was severely damaged by a fire earlier this year. City manager Joyce Martin said that Astro officials have signed a contract to begin clearing away the site as soon as possible. Because of the fire and to meet production deadlines, the company moved its operations to the Davis Road Industrial Park in Ottawa. The city had received a special loan and state grant on the company’s behalf to expand the Garnett plant before the fire. The company has repaid the city, which in turn, sent the money to the state, Martin said.
