OTTAWA — Ottawa school superintendent Dean Katt said he expects to propose a small property tax increase for next year. Although the school district is expected to lose more state school funding, the district will get more “at risk” and special education funds, he said. By re-arranging how that money is funneled through the school district budgets, Katt said the proposed property tax increase would be .6 or a mill. Katt said he’s pleased that the property tax increase will be less than expected despite state cutbacks.
