GARNETT — It’s the Anderson County Commission’s perogative to change its mind. The Anderson County Review reported that commissioners reversed their decision to reject a federal grant for new storm warning sirens in smaller towns. The county would have received a grant of more than $97,000 to pay to replace aging storm sirens in Kincaid, Greeley, Lone Elm, Colony, Welda and Harris. However, the commissioners turned down the grant because the county would have had to match the grant with $24,000. Commissioners said they couldn’t afford the match. After the commissioners rejected the grant, they got an earful from officials from small towns and rural townships. The cities of Colony and Greeley said they would each donate $3,500 to help with the match. County commissioners agreed to accept the grant.
