OVERLAND PARK — Could the popular TV show “Extreme Makeover—Home Edition” be coming to a place near Ottawa? Folks will have to wait a few more days on that, but in the meantime, the show held a pep rally in Overland Park Tuesday night to kick off the show’s latest project in Kansas. Milan Vasic, senior producer for the show, said the newest project, which will be somewhere in east central Kansas, will be announced July 31. He said all types of volunteers are needed, from unskilled workers to skilled craftsmen. If you want to volunteer, you can log on to joinextreme.com/kansas and contribute whatever skill you may have. He
told the audience that the show was started when one of his colleagues came across a house in poor condition. He stopped to talk to the woman outside. She said it looked poor because a daughter was battling leukemia and the family didn’t have the time or money to fix the house. That started the idea of the show, he said.
