OTTAWA — The Franklin County Commission agreed this morning to waive building permit, sanitation inspection and demolition dumping fees if ABC’s popular TV show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” decides to help a Franklin County family. County administrator Lisa Johnson said the show’s producers approached the county with the request. Five families are being considered, and one is from Franklin County, she said. Commission chair Ed Taylor said he was willing to waive the fees, noting the show would be good publicity for the county and expose the county to millions of viewers. Commissioner Colton Waymire wasn’t so star-struck, saying if the county doesn’t waive such fees for groups such as Habitat for Humanity, the county shouldn’t do so for the Disney Corporation, which owns ABC. However, Commissioner Don Stottlemire assured Waymire that previous commissions have given similar fee waivers to groups such as Humanity.
