TOPEKA- The Kansas Department of Labor released the jobless rates for the month of June and Kansas’ unemployment rate increased to 6.7 percent from the 6.3 percent it was in May. Despite the rise, the number is still down from the 6.9 percent it was at a year ago this time. Franklin County currently has one of the highest unemployment rates in the state at 9.3 percent. Though the county’s rate is down .1 percent from last year, it’s a jump from May’s 7.7 percent standing.
